Job Purpose

     This position is responsible for creating communications materials and copy for the marketing department in a fast paced environment.  In addition, the individual is responsible for creating, distributing and launching press releases as well as other corporate communications.  In addition, he/she implements the social media strategic plan.  The Communications & Graphic Specialist brings marketing experience, creativity and a willingness to learn.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

    Responsibilities include various marketing related functions and tasks including creating press releases, advertising copy, web copy, articles, coordinating Trade Shows, etc.- as well as project management, digital/document asset management and social media expertise, and any other duties assigned by Manager.  The incumbent must be a highly organized person with ability to be flexible, according to changing priorities.  Strong communication skills and excellent attention to detail skills are mandatory.  Handles a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to serving as liaison in negotiations between marketing, advertising, printing providers and other vendors. This position requires minimal travel.

Required Skills/Experience

  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, English or related area, and/or combination of related experience and education.

  • Previous Experience:  A minimum of 3 years of experience including copywriting, development of marketing collaterals (print, online, and social media), marketing project management, and social media marketing is required. Prior Experience working in marketing or public relations firm or department of a large company preferred.  Prior experience working with external vendors to negotiate, ensure proper placement and purchase advertising is also preferred.  Online reputation Management experience is an added plus.

  • Core Capabilities: Strong working knowledge and proficiency to create documents with MS products including Publisher, Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.  Familiarity with marketing automation, online email tools (e.g. MailChimp, Constant Contact, Emma etc.), project management systems (ex. Workzone), graphic design experience (ex. Adobe Creative Suite) and digital/document asset management (e.g. Media Valet) a plus.  Any graphic design ability or experience is an added plus.  Acute attention to detail and deadline-driven, with strong organizational and project management skills.  Ability to multi-task and work with firm deadlines and fixed schedules on large projects (ad campaigns, etc.).  Flexible in changing priorities.
